PerlerPal Site and New Version Released

Finally got the domain up and running – perlerpal.com. Also, since many people have been asking for it, I have changed the numbering of the palettes from 0-based to 1-based. If you have any issues, of course let me know!

  • Tavitooo

hello, How I can use my image? I upload it but I cant see it in the program!. Yo hablo español sorry for my bad english. Do you understand me my question?
    Gracias

  • Tasha

Hi, I had the same problem :) what I did was download ‘mozilla firefox’ as my web browser and it worked fine :)

  • nijntje

Are you sure your image is in the right size? – Took me a couple of failed attempts to notice the error message stating that it should be 512×512 px or smaller.

  • nijntje

There seems to be an awful lot of palette choices that are ‘empty’. Perhaps you should tidy them up in some way?
I don’t want to add a palette that’s already there, but by now I’ve gone tired of loading them one by one to see what they look like – especially when most are empty too. (I’ve been looking for the Ikea/Pyssla colors that others have already tried to upload it seems – exept apparently they didn’t succeed).
Would you consider making a page available that would just show all the different palette compositions along with their names? – That would make it easier to choose from existing palettes.

when i make a palette it’s always empty… i tried different things such as name all the colors, put an underscore between colors made of 2 word but my pallette is always empty… why?

  • elina

hello….thanks for that nice programme…i have two questions…
    which is the best browser to use when i want to see the site;;;
    and how can i change the grid size;;;;

  • Kiun_c99

I notice there’s a color limit. I can’t add more than 35 colors, can you increase the limit? Thanks

  • filip

    I haven’t had any issues with Chrome…

Filip, you can create a palette for your Nobbi pearls. Click on the “Palette Editor” link at the top of the page.

I don’t know what size to make the picture that I want to create… Very confused

  • Arildm

i Have found your perlerpal. Seems like your domain has run out or that you have changed it. Anyway..i miss some kind of instructions on how to upload it. i know a lot of other people are also asking for it.

The mushroom you have at the first picture is 16×16, but if i take a picture from the net and resize it with f.ex Photoshop to 16×16 i just gets blurry. What is your tip when trying to upload pictures from my favorite characters etc?

  • AJSelko

how do you make the images smaller to fit on less peg boards than it shows you?

  • Anonymous

AJSelko, sorry for the late reply, but you can either resize the image using software such as XNView, etc. or start with a smaller image, as typically resizing the image down will make it look not as good as if you had started with a small image to begin with. Many people will resize sprites to be much larger than they were originally, which makes them way too big to make with beads. Hope that helps!

Arildm, see http://www.edsalisbury.net/projects/what-happened-to-perlerpal/ for info on the domain, and see my response to AJSelko for resizing the images. The best way to have a good reference image is to grab from sprite sheets that people upload, and then use an image editor to crop out the bits you don’t want. Then, upload the image to the server, and it should be what you want. Hope that helps!

Typically, sprites are in the 16×16, 32×32, or 64×64 size, at least originally. A lot of what you see on the net has been resized in order to see it better, but those don’t work well for doing the bead creations. See my other replies for more info on what to look for on the net.

By schem, do you mean palette? MyPixelPal will allow you to create palettes, and there’s probably one for Nabbi that you can use, or create your own.

Hmm, there shouldn’t be a limit to the number of colors. Please let me know if you’re still having this issue (I’ve updated a bit since your post), and I’ll take a look again. Thanks!

I developed the site using FireFox, but I designed in such a way that it should work with any browser, as it doesn’t use any special code. For the grids, you cannot currently change the gridsize – I’ll be adding that as a feature in the next release.

I routinely clean up palettes, but it’s a very tedious process. In the new version I’m working on, each user will have their own set of palettes and images, which should make this process easier.

Hmm, I can’t reproduce this issue – can you see if you’re still having the issue so that I can try and track it down?

I’m also having the issue with any pallets I try to make being empty. (And after I made an awesome palette for Minecraft blocks). Look forward to the user-end palettes, because that sounds like it should fix it.

Know what would be nice? I uploaded a picture mypixelpal.com. It showed me how many beads I need, what colors, etc. But I find some of the colors are off from my original photo. I think there’s some better color choices. Would be nice to be able to click one of the colors and swap it out for another Perler color. For example, the website has me using 1426 qty of Light Blue, but another blue looks closer colored I think.

  • Ryan Lindsey

Such an amazingly helpful program – thanks for putting the time into developing this!

I did notice that recently the program stopped giving a summary of what colours of beads are required. I actually liked seeing this, and for those of us who have fairly restricted bead sets (So far), it’s good to know what I have to order to make a sprite.

Not a problem Ryan. I have released 1.6 which addresses the color count issue. Please let me know if you find anything else that needs to be fixed! Thanks!
